About the program
Rugby is a leading sport for men and women at Bond University. It’s national and international reach is a major reason for its status amongst the high performance sports.
The Bond University Rugby Club program comprises four significant programs which concentrate on athlete development and performance. These are mentioned below. In recent years, Bond players have represented at every level of Australian rugby – a trend which is now firmly set.
International student rugby players of high quality are frequent visitors and are warmly welcomed.
Players have benefited considerably from the high level instruction they receive from a coaching team which can lay claim to being one of the most experienced in Australian club rugby.
Bond University has a strong relationship with the Queensland Rugby Union and is the official education partner of the Queensland Reds and naming rights partner of the National Rugby Championships (NRC) Queensland Country team who are the 2017 Australian Rugby Champions.
Bond University Rugby is a member of the Queensland Rugby Union (QRU) and is the only Gold Coast based club competing in the Queensland Premier Rugby competition.
Bond University Rugby fields four teams:
- Two Senior teams: Premier and Premier Reserve Grade; and
- Two Colts (u19’s) teams: Premier Colts and Colts 1.
Under the guidance of our Director of Rugby – Coaching and Performance, Sean Hedger, Bond University Rugby provides a training and playing experience that develops players, coaches and managers to the best of their ability in a safe, challenging and enjoyable environment.
