The Bond Bull Sharks beat eventual tournament champions Griffith University on their way to 6th place in the second Aon Uni 7s tournament at Bond Uni rugby oval last weekend.

The win against Griffith came down to Melanie Wilks' heroic last gasp tackle and steal, delivering Bond a memorable victory.

However, the tournament was notable as a team effort for the Bull Sharks, who overcame the absence and brilliance of Aussie 7s representative Lauren Brown, and the determination of Wallaroo Cobie-Jane Morgan, to post their most exceptional tournament result in two years.

Coach Setu Naseri praised the character of his charges, particularly after a disappointing ninth placing at tournament one at University of Queensland.

"At training ahead of the tournament, we had a heart-to-heart about the values of the club; commitment, discipline, teamwork respect, and positivity.

"Kirby (Sefo) spoke to the girls about preparing themselves to tackle what was coming on the weekend, to be mentally prepared to work on their strengths and weaknesses, and to apply themselves"

The next tournament in the schedule will be at the University of Adelaide next weekend. With the Bull Sharks featuring as one of the form teams of tournament two, the opportunity to build on a credible result beckons.

When asked how the Bull Sharks plan on maintaining momentum, Coach Naseri believes the squad has found confidence but they won't be getting complacent.

"The last thing we want to do is get comfortable and focus on the weekend's results," Naseri said.

Bull Sharks captain Emily Bass finished off her stellar performance over the weekend by winning a spot in the Round 2 Dream Team line-up.

At the halfway mark, Bond sits in seventh position on the series ladder.

Round 3 kicks off on October 12-13, University of Adelaide.
